Amber Flag
Following our success of being rewarded the Green Flag and Active Flag we are now striving to get our Amber Flag. We feel positive mental health and well being is so important for us all. Healthy body means healthy mind, so in successfully receiving our Active Flag, this is the next natural step. Here in the Curragh GNS we have always promoted and encouraged a positive, supportive and open minded environment for students, parents, teachers and anyone who enters in our school community. We have however put in some extra efforts to raise awareness about positive mental health which include:
- Wellness week - mindful walks, mindfulness colouring, sharing compliments and kindness and lots of mindful activities within individual classrooms.
- Creating our Amber Flag committee consisting of Ms. Farrouj and the sixth class girls
- Amber Flag competition - designing our very own Amber Flag.
- Putting up posters created by the Amber Flag Committee to promote positive mental health.
- Our "Change Your Mindset" notice board
- Holistic activities undertaken through the SPHE and PE strands of the curriculum.
- Positivity Week - random acts of kindness among pupils and staff, sharing compliments, building self confidence, recognising accomplishments, strengths, being proud to be ourselves and to be different.
Walk a mile with a smile to welcome the summer
The first day of Summer was truly a lovely sunny day so we marked the occasion with a walk a mile with a smile. The girls were delighted to get out and about in the sunshine

A spontaneous trip to the playground
Our 3rd and 4th class made a stop off at the local playground on the way back from their swimming lessons. As the day was so warm and sunny Ms Tuomey and the girls decided it would be lovely to spend there small break at the playground as they were walking past. This was a lovely way to finish off their trip to the swimming pool.
