Over the past few weeks we worked on our Christmas Projects. We learned about Christmas customs and traditions in other countries. We are also involved in the TAP (Teacher Artist Partnership) and the theme we chose was 'winter Festivals Around the World'. At the minute we are designing and creating our own wrapping paper.
Our countdown to Christmas has begun and as a class we decided to create our own life size Advent Calendar. We choose a different treat every day to brighten up the gloomy December days. We are really enjoying revealing the surprise each morning!
Look at our pastel gingerbread houses and painted steaming hot chocolate.
My Place in Space
We are very lucky to be involved in the STEM Programme 'My Place in Space' with Dr Niamh Shaw. Dr Niamh Shaw is an engineer, scientist and writer as well as being an artist and performer. The girls participated in a 5 week Zoom Workshop where they learned about astronomy and engaged with a female role model for STEM. The girls created time capsules and rockets. They watched short video clips about space exploration and developed a love for science and the unknown.

5th & 6th Class 2020/21 Ms Fitzgerald
After a long break from school we are Back! The girls created acrostic poems about Coronvirus. We hope that it goes away soon as it is ruining all our fun :(
Look at all our Colourful Cuckoo Clocks. We created 2D and 3D clocks using card, cardboard, old CD'S and butterfly pins.
Look at our Collaborative art piece. It is our 'rainbow of positivity'
We have been focusing on the 'Power of Positive Thoughts' this term. It can be very easy to feel down at the moment and we have designed a list of activities to help us name and explain our feelings. We have also recognised the importance of exercise in ensuring we have a healthy mind and body. We 'walk a mile with a smile' two to three times each week and we encourage the girls to add to this in the evening after school.
Our Halloween fun.

Each of the girls has been paired up with a younger pupil from the junior class to read a book of their choice with them each week. Well done girls.

Making Beautiful snowflakes
The 5th and 6th class girls have been busy making snowflakes with Ms Tuomey. This involves a lot of intricate folding, cutting and sticking but the girls have made stunning patterns, and just like real snowflakes....each one is different!!
