First Holy Communion Day
Congratulations to our 3rd class girls who finally got to make their First Holy Communion at the weekend. It was such a unique circumstance and such a lovely day. Well done girls! Many thanks to Father PJ who made the ceremony so special.
Rainbow of Positivity!
5th & 6th class have been focusing on the 'Power of Positive Thoughts' this term. It can be very easy to feel down at the moment and we have designed a list of activities to help us name and explain our feelings. We have also recognised the importance of exercise in ensuring we have a healthy mind and body. We 'walk a mile with a smile' two to three times each week and we encourage the girls to add to this in the evening after school.
Look at our positive collaborative art piece.
Would you like to build a snowman?

We had a mad Hatters Day to save the Zoo and some day soon visit the animals too!
Many thanks to everyone for supporting this worthy cause! It was a tremendously fun day. Well done to the 5th & 6th girls & Ms Fitzgerald who organised the entire fundraiser from scratch. Great work girls!

A magical visit from Dog's Trust
This week our school were very lucky to have a very special visitor....'magic' the dog came along with Paul from the Charity Dogs Trust. Paul and magic were here to let us know the importance of looking after your pets, making sure that you are gentle with them, never forget to bring them on walks, feed them, make sure they have plenty of water and most of all...plenty of love and attention. Magic was delighted to be here and made a visit to each class so the girls could ask whatever questions they wished and learned how to pet a dog correctly and safely. We would sincerely like to thank Paul and Magic from dogs trust for the wonderful time we all had and for their gentle patience on a long day with lots of questions. I am sure magic slept all the way home!!

Peace proms rehearsal
The girls in our Peace Proms Choir were recently at the National Sports Arena in Dublin for a rehearsal with the conductor and the other school children who will make up the 1000 member choir for the RDS concert in the New Year. The work shop was full of energy and fun. The children put a lot of work into the rehearsal and will now be working hard to perfect the instructions they were given for each piece of music. We wish them the very best of luck while they practice all the songs and the actions for February.

We hope they enjoy their trip to Africa with 'Maintain Hope' and we are proud of their work. Well done girls!!

Curragh GNS Sports Day
Thankfully the weather held itself together for our sports day. The girls had a fantastic day with 3 legged races, sack races, egg & spoon and much much more. Parents also got stuck in to the fun and joined in all the sporting fun. The penguin club had a fabulous barbeque ready for the girls when they got back from the pitch as they had certainly built up an appetite. This was followed by our annual staff versus 6th class girls soccer match. The girls certainly did not hold back and went on to beat the staff in a very energetic fun filled game. Kerry Doran was a very fair referee and did a great job keeping us all in order through out the game. We would sincerely like to thank all the parents for coming along to support the school for sports day. A special thank you goes to Carmel and Bríd for their wonderful cooking! It made the day!!

Willow Weaving with Beth
As part of our bio-diversity we have been very lucky to have Beth coming to our school to teach the girls all about the Bio-Diversity that is around them. To tie in with this Beth has taken the girls out to our garden to cut back the shrubs and long grass and discover the myriad of insects and plant life hidden away in the undergrowth. The girls have also been trying their hand at a spot of weaving themselves, making a climbing frame out of the willows for peas to trail along. It is so much fun! Many thanks to Beth for the wealth of knowledge she is passing on to us all here at the school.
